Recall of Petzl Via Ferrata Sets Scorpio and the Absorbica Still Actual


08/04/11: Berlin: The German retailer for the French company Petzl told us on request that the recall of the via ferrata series Scorpio is still relevant.

 


Many via ferrata sets are still in use without getting approved by Petzl. Precise numbers for the sets in use could not be given by the German retail company Krah.


Also affected of the recall are the industrial used Absorbica sets.
The affected sets start with the serial 11137***. The use of sets that not have been checked is a high risk and has to be stopped immediately.


After a deadly accident in Grenoble, France in May 2011 it was discovered that a stitching in the energy absorbing system was missing. In tutorials in the industrial use the malfunction was detected too that caused “only” a near accident.
